Over the years, it has been distinguished by its strategic location, which has made it an important stop on the route to Yemen, as well as its strong trade links with the African continent throughout its history. It is renowned for agriculture, as well as for fishing. The annual Al-Harid Festival is held in Farasan, and the region is home to the Wadi Jazan Dam, one of the Kingdomโs largest dams.
